Publisher Tiers

Every publisher on Archipelag.io has a tier that reflects their verification status. Higher tiers unlock more capabilities and build user trust.

Tier Overview

Individual Tier

The starting tier for all new publishers.

Requirements:

• Valid email address
• Email verification completed

Capabilities:

• Publish up to 3 Cargos
• Basic resource limits (256MB RAM, 1 CPU core)
• 60-second maximum job duration
• No network access for Cargos
• No GPU access

Best for: Hobbyists, students, and developers testing the platform.

Verified Tier

For developers ready to publish production Cargos.

Requirements (one of the following):

• Stripe Identity - Government ID verification through Stripe
• GitHub Verification - Active GitHub account with history

Capabilities:

• Publish up to 10 Cargos
• Standard resource limits (1GB RAM, 2 CPU cores)
• 5-minute maximum job duration
• Cargos start at Trust Level 1 (Community)
• Priority review queue

Best for: Independent developers and small teams publishing production Cargos.

How to Upgrade

1. Go to Settings → Publisher Profile
2. Click Upgrade to Verified
3. Choose verification method:
   • Stripe Identity: Upload government-issued ID (processed in minutes)
   • GitHub: Connect your GitHub account (instant if eligible)
4. Complete verification
5. Tier upgrades immediately upon success

Organization Tier

For companies and teams publishing commercial Cargos.

Requirements:

• Verified business domain (DNS TXT record)
• Legal entity information
• Billing contact

Capabilities:

• Unlimited Cargos
• Elevated resource limits (8GB RAM, 4 CPU cores)
• 30-minute maximum job duration
• Network access for Cargos (outbound only)
• Dedicated support channel
• Custom branding on Cargo pages
• Team member management

Best for: Companies, startups, and organizations with multiple Cargos or team members.

How to Upgrade

1. Go to Settings → Publisher Profile
2. Click Upgrade to Organization
3. Verify your domain:
   • Add a TXT record to your DNS: archipelag-verify=<token>
   • We’ll check the record automatically
4. Provide organization details:
   • Legal entity name
   • Business address
   • Tax ID (optional, required for payouts)
5. Review and accept Organization Terms
6. Tier upgrades after domain verification (usually within 24 hours)

Partner Tier

For strategic partners with custom requirements.

Requirements:

• Partnership agreement with Archipelag.io
• Technical review and onboarding

Capabilities:

• Everything in Organization tier
• Custom resource limits
• GPU access for Cargos
• Dedicated infrastructure options
• SLA guarantees
• Co-marketing opportunities
• Direct engineering support

Best for: AI companies, cloud providers, and enterprises requiring custom integrations.

How to Apply

Partner status is by invitation or application. Contact partners@archipelag.io with:

• Your organization and use case
• Expected Cargo volume
• Any custom requirements

Tier Comparison

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I downgrade my tier?

Yes, you can downgrade at any time from Settings → Publisher Profile. If you have more Cargos than your new tier allows, you’ll need to unpublish some first.

What happens to my Cargos if my verification expires?

Verified tier (Stripe Identity) verifications don’t expire. Organization domain verifications are checked periodically; if your domain record is removed, you’ll have 30 days to restore it before downgrade.

Can I change my verification method?

Yes, you can add additional verification methods or switch between them. Your tier reflects your highest verified level.

How long does verification take?

• Email: Instant
• Stripe Identity: Usually under 5 minutes
• GitHub: Instant if eligible
• Domain: 24-48 hours (DNS propagation)
